Friday evening's discussion is designed to provide an opportunity to hear how 5 working artists are making a living at their craft. How did they get started? How did they get into their first gallery? What types of marketing have they tried and what worked and what didn't? What are they doing now for promotion? What is the best advice for emerging artists to help them succeed? The idea behind this discussion is to give the emerging artist, at whatever age or level of skills, some hope. Hope and living proof that it is possible to achieve your dream of becoming a successful artist and making a good living at it! Later we will open it up to questions from the audience.

Gus Harper finds landscapes within natural objects and reflects the Southern California abundance. His work ranges from wall size interchangeable grid paintings to dreamy portraits.
Harper's work has been shown across the country and also featured in film and television shows. Harper maintains a studio at the Santa Monica Airport.

Cheryl Kline is known for her dramatic paintings of the sky (and Founder and Owner of Kline Academy). She is in collections around the world as well as celebrity collections; Oprah Winfrey, Halle Berry and others. She's won numerous awards and is writing her first book on Portrait painting.

Tanya Ragir is an award winning contemporary figurative sculptor based in Los Angeles. Her medium ranges from clay to cast resin and bronze. Her body of work is both compelling and iconic, with sometimes cultural,  political, or sexual overtones. She is featured in notable museum collections all over the world.

Doug Smith combines the exuberance of abstract expressionism and the arresting intimacy of the realistically familiar in his contemporary landscape paintings. He has exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States and an exhibition in Moscow.

Norton Wisdom is a performance artist and painter. He has been painting to live music  with bands and has performed around the world. His paintings and sculptures can be found in the permanent collections of notable museums.
