Terry Kelly
Terry Kelly originally trained and worked as an architectural draughtsman in his native Australia and later Ireland. After moving to Los Angeles, he immersed himself in realism painting and drawing and moves effortlessly between precise rendering and abstraction. In addition to the Kline Academy, he teaches at the Art Center College of Design and Cal State L.A. He has a gallery in Pasadena.
Terry instills sounds skills and understanding of materials through the tenets of knowledge, observation and practice. His teaching strengths include the ability to clearly verbalize his thought process from concept to final brushstroke. He believes that students should synthesize a process with methods that come naturally to the individual. This not only improves student understanding but lessens student frustration.
